For the Dab That Tastes Like Your Concentrate.
There are two reasons people choose quartz over titanium for a dab straw tip. The first is flavour: fused quartz is chemically inert at dabbing temperatures and introduces no material taste into the vapour. The second is low-temperature control: quartz’s heat retention profile makes it the most forgiving material for the 350–450°F temperature window where terpenes vaporise fully without burning. If you choose your concentrate for how it tastes and you want the vapour to reflect that — quartz is the material. The Zabba Dabba with a Quartz Tip is built around that choice.
Why Quartz? The Material Case.
Fused quartz (silicon dioxide, SiO₂) is chemically stable at the temperatures produced by a butane torch. It does not react with the vapour it contacts, it does not off-gas under heat, and it imparts no taste of its own. When you dab through a quartz tip, what you taste is the concentrate — and only the concentrate. Titanium is an excellent material in its own right, but it can introduce a faint metallic character at high temperatures that a flavour-focused user will detect. For the buyer who cares about terpene accuracy — and the difference between a Gelato and a Jack Herer extract, or between a live rosin and a distillate — quartz removes the one variable they can control at the tip.
Quartz and Low-Temperature Dabbing
Low-temperature dabbing — typically in the 350–450°F range — is where the full terpene profile of a quality concentrate expresses itself. At higher temperatures, monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes combust before they can be fully tasted; the hit is dense but the flavour is flattened. At lower temperatures, those terpenes vaporise intact and the concentrate tastes as close to its extracted form as the delivery method allows.
Quartz is the preferred tip material for low-temp dabbing for a specific reason: its heat retention profile. After torching, quartz cools at a rate that gives the user a usable low-temperature window. The standard technique is to torch the tip until it begins to glow, then allow it to cool for 20–40 seconds before touching it to the concentrate. The cooling time can be adjusted by a few seconds in either direction to dial in the exact temperature preference. Titanium retains heat longer and cools more slowly, which makes low-temp timing more variable. Quartz’s relatively predictable cool-down makes it easier to hit the target temperature window consistently.
🌡 Low-temp guide for the Zabba Dabba quartz tip: Torch the tip for 20–30 seconds until it begins to glow faintly. Remove the flame and count: 20 seconds cool-down for a mid-low temperature dab (around 400–450°F); 30–40 seconds for a true low-temp dab (around 350–400°F). Touch the tip lightly to the concentrate while inhaling. The vapour at this temperature range will be smooth, flavourful, and full — not harsh or combustion-like. Adjust the cool-down time by ±5 seconds per session to find your preferred temperature window.
Quartz vs Titanium: The Zabba Dabba Tip Choice

| Material | Fused quartz (SiO₂) | Grade 2 titanium |
| Flavour | Zero material taste — purest flavour | Faint metallic note at high temps |
| Low-temp dabbing | ✓ Ideal — predictable cool-down | Less predictable; slower cool-down |
| Heat-up time | ~30–45 seconds | ~15–25 seconds |
| Durability | Very durable; can chip if dropped hard | Near-indestructible |
| Visibility | Clear — see tip condition at a glance | Opaque metal |
| Cleaning | Torch clean or ISO soak | Torch clean preferred |
| Best for | Flavour-first, terpene-focused, low-temp | Heavy use, portability, indestructibility |
| Who chooses this | Connoisseurs, terpene chasers, low-temp users | Heavy daily users, travel, rough handling |
The Removable Quartz Tip + K-Clip System
The quartz tip on the Zabba Dabba is removable, secured by a K-clip. This solves the original Zabba Dabba’s cracking problem directly: the earlier all-glass tip was fixed to the body and cracked under repeated high-heat torch cycles. A removable quartz tip is purpose-built for that thermal stress. The K-clip locks the tip securely to the 14mm joint during use and releases it cleanly for post-session cleaning. Torch-cleaning a quartz tip while it’s detached from the glass body is both safer and more effective than cleaning an attached tip.
Replacement quartz tips are also available separately (confirm on product page), meaning the Zabba Dabba body can outlast multiple tip lifespans. If a quartz tip chips or cracks — from a drop rather than from heat, since quartz handles torch temperatures without issue — the body is not sacrificed with it.
Custom Colour and Fuming on the Quartz Tip Variant
The Zabba Dabba with a Quartz Tip is available with the same custom colour and fuming options as the rest of the ZongGlass range. The quartz tip itself is clear — it stays clear during use and shows no colour accumulation unless significantly residued. The visual character of this piece comes entirely from the hand-blown glass body: the body colour and, if chosen, the Silver or Gold fuming. A fumed Zabba Dabba body with a clear quartz tip creates a strong visual contrast — the metallic iridescence of the fumed body against the transparent simplicity of the quartz tip is one of the more visually distinctive combinations in the ZongGlass range.
- Silver fuming — produces the chameleon gold-amber iridescence that develops and deepens with use; the cleaner the piece, the clearer the base colour shows through; the more used, the more pronounced the metallic patina
- Gold fuming — rose-violet iridescence; particularly striking on lighter body colours where the warm-cool contrast between body and fuming plays out visually
Cleaning the Quartz Tip
Quartz is one of the easiest dabbing materials to clean:
- Torch clean — the quickest method; after detaching from the body using the K-clip, torch the tip until any residual concentrate carbonises and burns off; allow to cool before reattaching; this restores the tip to near-new condition quickly and is safe to do every session
- ISO soak — for a deeper clean, soak the detached quartz tip in 91%+ isopropyl alcohol for 30–60 minutes, then rinse with warm water; this removes any residue that torch cleaning misses
- Body clean — use Orange Chronic Cleaner for a quick shake-and-rinse of the body; Grunge Off Super Soaker for a soak clean
💧 Cleaning sequence tip: Detach the quartz tip first using the K-clip before cleaning the body. Clean tip and body separately. Torch-clean the quartz tip; pour cleaner into the body, shake, rinse. Reassemble once both are fully dry and cool. This keeps cleaner residue off the quartz tip and keeps torch heat away from the body.
