Six Kinks. Wrapped in Colour. Beaker Base.
The Wrapped Color 6 Kink Zong Beaker takes ZongGlass’s largest configuration — six Z-kinks, 33 to 36 inches tall — and puts it in one of the brand’s newer colour finishes. The Wrapped Color line was built in response to demand for something bolder and more saturated than a classic colour accent: colour that envelops the tube rather than running along it. At six kinks and full height, the wrapped finish covers a lot of glass — and on a piece this tall, that coverage reads as a statement.
What “Wrapped Color” Means
The colour on this Zong is applied as a continuous wrap around the circumference of the tube during the blowing process, using American-made colour rods. It bands around the borosilicate rather than running in lengthwise stripes, giving the piece a more fully saturated, enveloping colour presence. Like all ZongGlass colour work, this is permanent — fused into the glass, not painted or coated on top of it.
Five colour options are available: Slime Green, Lantern Green, Pink, Purple, and Caramel. Each reads differently across the kinks — the Z-geometry creates shadow and light variation across the bends that changes how the colour appears depending on viewing angle and lighting conditions.
Fuming on a Colour Piece
Silver (.995) and Gold (22ct) fuming are available on the Wrapped Color 6 Kink. Silver fuming is the standard recommendation for colour Zongs — the silver metallic underlayer makes the colour above it more vivid and gives the clear sections of the piece a warm iridescent shift that develops with use. Gold fuming adds a rosier, warmer tint. Both options layer the chameleon shift effect over the wrapped colour, making the finished piece increasingly individual the more it is used.
The Beaker Base
This variant is specified as a Beaker base — the wide, stable, flat-bottomed foundation that gives the 6 Kink its most grounded, shelf-stable footing. At 33–36 inches, the Beaker base keeps the piece from becoming top-heavy. It also provides more water volume than a Bubble base, which adds additional cooling for a tube this tall.
Where It Sits in the ZongGlass Range
| Colour Technique | Character |
|---|---|
| Full Color | Single solid colour saturating the entire tube |
| Wrapped Color | Colour banded around the tube circumference |
| Striped | Colour running lengthwise along the tube |
| Worked Color | Detailed colour work with silver fuming standard |
The Wrapped Color sits between Full Color and Worked Color in complexity — more saturated than a stripe accent, less intricate than a fully worked piece.
