The 2 Kink Worked Color Zong is the most accessible piece in ZongGlass’s Worked Color range — two Z-kinks, 5mm wall thickness, and colour work on the base and mouthpiece applied using American colour rods from Northstar Glass in Colorado and Glass Alchemy in Oregon. It is the right starting point for anyone who wants a worked piece from the ZongGlass workshop without stepping into the larger, higher-kink configurations.

What “Worked Color” Means

Worked Color is a specific technique in the ZongGlass range. Rather than saturating the entire tube in a single colour or wrapping colour around the circumference, worked colour is applied selectively — typically concentrated at the base and mouthpiece, the two sections the glassblower works most during the shaping process. The colour is applied using premium American rods and fused into the borosilicate during blowing. It is not painted, printed, or coated — it is part of the glass structure permanently.

The colour source matters here. ZongGlass uses rods exclusively from Northstar Glass and Glass Alchemy — two of the most respected American colour rod producers in the industry — for all Worked Color pieces. The result is colour that is vivid, stable, and consistent batch to batch.

Silver Fuming — Standard on Every Worked Color Zong

All Worked Color Zongs leave the Phoenix workshop with .995 Silver fuming applied as standard — it is not an add-on on this range, it is the default. Silver fuming is inlaid within the glass walls during blowing and creates a metallic iridescence that interacts with the colour work beneath it: the silver underlayer makes the colour more saturated and vivid, and as the piece develops character with use, the iridescent shift intensifies. The combination of worked colour and silver fuming is the defining visual of this range.

Every 2 Kink Worked Color Zong is built to order at the ZongGlass workshop in Phoenix, Arizona using German Schott borosilicate tubing and American colour rods. Standard lead time is 2–3 weeks; up to 30 days during peak periods.
