What “Fat Series” Means

The Fat Series is ZongGlass’s 50mm diameter line — the original tube diameter the Zong was built around. Wider than the 45mm Skinny Series, the 50mm tube holds more volume per kink, feels more substantial in the hand, and produces a fuller draw. At 5mm wall thickness, it’s heavy enough to sit firmly on any surface without being a burden to hold. The “Fat Series (Original)” designation marks this as the founding format — the one the brand has been making since the early days, not a derivative or slimmed-down version.

What Four Kinks Do

Each kink extends the smoke path, adds a natural splash guard, and creates a grip point on the tube. Four kinks puts this piece in the upper-mid range of the ZongGlass kink count lineup — more cooling and smoke path than a 1–2 kink everyday driver, more manageable in height than the 5–6 kink statement pieces. For most regular users, the 4 kink hits the practical sweet spot: enough kinks to make a material difference in the hit, not so many that the piece becomes difficult to store or clean.

Clear Glass — and Why It Matters

Clear Zongs are the most honest version of the piece. You see the water level, you see the smoke fill the chamber, you see when it needs a clean. There is also a practical maintenance advantage: residue is visible before it builds up to the point of affecting taste. The clear format pairs with fuming particularly well — silver or gold fuming applied during the blowing process creates an iridescent shift against the transparent glass that develops in character the more the piece is used.

Every Fat Series Quadruple Kink Zong is built to order at the ZongGlass workshop in Phoenix, Arizona using German Schott borosilicate tubing. Standard lead time is 2–3 weeks; up to 90 days during peak periods.
